El domingo vi por la televisi\u00f3n c\u00f3mo ser\u00eda mi peor pesadilla vuelta realidad. Y no fue una pel\u00edcula, fue de a deveras, en las calles de Nueva York<\/strong>, en el marat\u00f3n m\u00e1s famoso del mundo, observado en vivo por millones de personas alrededor del planeta.<\/p>\n

Daniel Ferreira do Nascimento<\/strong> lideraba la carrera en la Gran Manzana<\/strong>, cuando en el kil\u00f3metro 29 apur\u00f3 incluso m\u00e1s el pas\u00f3 \u2014que ya de por s\u00ed manten\u00eda por debajo del r\u00e9cord de ruta\u2014 para hacer escala en uno de esos ba\u00f1os port\u00e1tiles que tanto nos aterran a los maratonistas; o por lo menos a m\u00ed. Cuando entras ah\u00ed no es a orinar, sino porque te sentiste mal del est\u00f3mago y est\u00e1s a punto de protagonizar una tragedia monumental a ojos de todos.<\/p>\n

La pesadilla recurrente<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Me caus\u00f3 un asombro cercano a la angustia ver entrar al ba\u00f1o al brasile\u00f1o y que poco despu\u00e9s cayera fulminado por el sobreesfuerzo, la humedad, la temperatura y lo temerario (tal como colaps\u00f3 en los Juegos Ol\u00edmpicos de Tokio<\/strong>) , lo que me llev\u00f3 a pensar en las pesadillas m\u00e1s terror\u00edficas de los corredores:<\/p>\n

Ah\u00ed viene…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
    \n
  1. Que en plena competencia o en una distancia te den ganas de ir al ba\u00f1o, y no necesariamente a hacer pip\u00ed, porque, como quiera, el short puede acabar mojado y nadie lo nota.<\/li>\n
  2. Lesiones previas a una carrera que te impidan participar despu\u00e9s de tantos entrenamientos y de la ilusi\u00f3n. A veces se llora m\u00e1s de la tristeza que de dolor.<\/li>\n
  3. Eventos inesperados durante la ruta que te lleven a abandonar: ampollas, calambres, agotamiento, malestar, deshidrataci\u00f3n o, Dios<\/strong> no lo quiera, un infarto.<\/li>\n
  4. Dar vueltas en la cama la noche antes del evento, lo cual sucede especialmente en los maratones, y contar cu\u00e1ntas horas te van quedando de un sue\u00f1o que nunca llega sino hasta que casi suena el despertador.<\/li>\n
  5. Olvidar iniciar el reloj en la l\u00ednea de salida y que se te caiga la estrategia.<\/li>\n
  6. Los malos conductores que, m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de no cederte el paso, te avientan el coche dispuestos a matar. Yo, no obstante mi filosof\u00eda live-and-let-live y mi convicci\u00f3n del efecto bumeran de nuestros deseos, sin dudarlo los maldigo y les apunto con las palmas de mis manos para que paguen en esta vida, con creces.<\/li>\n
  7. Que una jaur\u00eda de perros te persiga y no encuentres ni una piedra para defenderte.<\/li>\n
  8. Salir a correr con tu pareja y que te empiece a echar bronca: \u00a1Se\u00f1oras, se\u00f1ores, salgamos a airearnos, no a discutir!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
