Casi a finales del a\u00f1o 2019, la doctora Mayte<\/strong> le dijo a mi suegro que ten\u00eda un c\u00e1ncer terminal, uno extremadamente agresivo, etapa IV. La \u00faltima. Ten\u00eda un tumor muy grande que le invad\u00eda varios \u00f3rganos y lo comenzaron a tratar con quimioterapias y radiaci\u00f3n, pero para mediados de 2020 ya hab\u00eda incluso met\u00e1stasis en distintas partes de su organismo. Las posibilidades de vivir m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de unos meses, y eso si le practicaban una cirug\u00eda muy compleja y de alto riesgo, eran muy reducidas.<\/p>\n

\u00c9l es un hombre muy positivo, en toda la extensi\u00f3n de la palabra. Sin dudarlo, a pesar del nada favorable panorama, decidi\u00f3 operarse. La cosa pintaba tan mal que, un d\u00eda antes de internarse, le hicimos una ceremonia de despedida en su casa. Xavier<\/strong> es tambi\u00e9n muy creyente y le fueron a dar la unci\u00f3n de los enfermos, aunque aquello \u2014y hay que decirlo con todas sus letras\u2014 se trataba de un adi\u00f3s. De hecho, buena parte de los meses previos los dedicamos a que escribiera sus memorias, para dejar un testimonio de su paso por este mundo a su gente querida.<\/p>\n

Para no hacer muy larga la historia, pues ya antes cont\u00e9 parte de ella en este mismo espacio<\/a>, hoy, 12 de julio del a\u00f1o 2022, mi suegro habita el planeta Tierra con 0% de actividad tumoral.<\/p>\n

Traigo otra vez esto a cuento por dos motivos: primero, porque hace un par de semanas vio la luz su libro: \u201cVivir, una experiencia maravillosa<\/strong>\u201d, ese que se supone nos dejar\u00eda como un recuerdo postmortem y al que ahora habr\u00e1 de agregarle nuevos cap\u00edtulos, pues el final qued\u00f3 inconcluso. Y, en segundo lugar, por el papel que ha jugado el ejercicio en este milagro. Xavier<\/strong>, pese al agotamiento y lo mal que se sent\u00eda, nunca dej\u00f3 de realizar todos los ejercicios que le puso su coach personal e hija. Ni siquiera durante la convalecencia Postrado en la cama, mov\u00eda los dedos de los pies arriba y abajo; en su sill\u00f3n hac\u00eda estiramientos de piernas y brazos, si no mal recuerdo hasta con unas peque\u00f1as pesas.<\/p>\n

Vivir, una experiencia maravillosa<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Lo pensaba hace unas ma\u00f1anas que sal\u00ed a trotar tras algunos d\u00edas no precisamente buenos: \u201cQu\u00e9 importante es salir a correr, a hacer deporte, ejercicio, a despejarse\u00bb. Podr\u00e1 sonar muy new age<\/em>, pero es m\u00e1s bien una sapiencia ancestral: al exhalar sacamos lo que ya no necesitamos, lo que hay que dejar ir; y al inhalar damos paso a un poco de nueva vida, que si somos constantes se puede ir convirtiendo en mucha. La disciplina del ejercicio es, tambi\u00e9n, no dejarse morir.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
