Hace cinco a\u00f1os acab\u00e9 en el hospital por una lesi\u00f3n de columna<\/a>. En la \u00faltima fase de entrenamiento rumbo a mi tercer marat\u00f3n, el cuerpo me par\u00f3 en seco. Mi sue\u00f1o estaba anclado en aquella meta y, al caerse, me sent\u00ed desesperanzado.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00abLos humanos somos curiosos\u00bb, me dijo una maestra sanadora a la que acud\u00ed entonces en busca de una soluci\u00f3n. \u00abNo te va a gustar lo que te voy a decir, pero estas carreras locas nada m\u00e1s les sirven para demostrarle al mundo su val\u00eda, su resistencia f\u00edsica, su capacidad de ser m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidos que otros, su disciplina y todo lo que han entrenado. Esta competencia sin l\u00edmite de unos contra otros \u2014y que algunos dicen, peor a\u00fan, que es contra s\u00ed mismos\u2014 surge del ego y poco tiene que ver ya con el deporte que realmente nos construye, o con el movimiento del cuerpo\u00bb.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Les cuento esto porque har\u00e1 cosa de un mes sufr\u00ed un desgarro del que seg\u00fan yo ya estaba recuperado. En cuanto me sent\u00ed bien, empec\u00e9 a correr otra vez como si el mundo se fuera a acabar y, \u00a1zas!, la cicatriz de mi b\u00edceps femoral se abri\u00f3 ahora m\u00e1s grande. Nuevamente, la desesperanza.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a1No puede ser! \u2014le repet\u00ed absolutamente frustrado a mi entrenador\u2014. \u00a1Justo en mi mejor momento!<\/span>
\n\u2014Si lo ves as\u00ed, es que se trata de un golpe al ego \u2014me respondi\u00f3 en una clara coincidencia con la maestra sanadora.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recuerdo mis comienzos, cuando sal\u00eda a correr sin reloj, por el mero gusto y no por demostrarle nada a nadie, ni a m\u00ed. Simplemente porque me conectaba y me llegaba la inspiraci\u00f3n, se me revelaban ideas para campa\u00f1as publicitarias, resolv\u00eda historias en los 60 minutos que corr\u00eda entre \u00e1rboles, a trav\u00e9s de senderos que, s\u00ed, me conduc\u00edan a m\u00ed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Por supuesto que ahora disfruto tambi\u00e9n correr a un nivel competitivo, pero algo hay de cierto en que de pronto en las carreras corr\u00eda de m\u00ed y ya no necesariamente hacia m\u00ed. La meta es una l\u00ednea muy delgada entre la satisfacci\u00f3n personal y el sentirnos valorados por otros debido a nuestra falta de autoestima.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Que<\/p>\n

\u00abHay que desandar a veces los pasos\u00bb, me dijo la mujer sabia hace cinco a\u00f1os que parecen hoy. \u00abVe al origen verdadero de la contracci\u00f3n, pues todos los padecimientos tienen un porqu\u00e9 que no es necesariamente lo que caus\u00f3 la lesi\u00f3n a simple vista. No te hundas, en este mundo de lo que no se ve, algunos obst\u00e1culos son m\u00e1s bien escalones. Por ahora quiz\u00e1 sea momento de reacomodar tu vida, tu oficina, tus cajones. Guarda un rato los tenis de alta velocidad en el cl\u00f3set y salte por unos instantes de la competencia sin l\u00edmite. No necesitas expandir el ego para encontrarte; necesitas encontrar el alma para expandirte\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n
