Participo poco en el grupo de WhatsApp<\/strong> de mis amigos de la escuela (y hasta en el de mi familia). La mayor\u00eda nos conocemos desde los cinco a\u00f1os de edad, cuando entramos a preprimaria; hace unos cuarenta. Otros llegaron despu\u00e9s, ya avanzada la primaria, o en secundaria.<\/p>\n

De un tiempo para ac\u00e1, el chat ha servido \u2014adem\u00e1s de para distraernos de nuestras similares rutinas\u2014 para avisar de la muerte de los padres de algunos. As\u00ed como no soy muy dado a re\u00edr a trav\u00e9s del teclado (ja, ja, ja) \u2014pues la risa es espont\u00e1nea o no es\u2014, tampoco me parece que dar el p\u00e9same a trav\u00e9s de una ventana del m\u00f3vil sea el modo m\u00e1s sincero y, ni qu\u00e9 decir, cercano. Pero as\u00ed es esto, los tiempos y las maneras han cambiado, s\u00f3lo algunos convencionales nos resistimos.<\/p>\n

El caso es que ayer fuimos avisados de que el pap\u00e1 de Manuel<\/strong> acababa de fallecer. Manuel<\/strong> es de los que entraron desde los cinco al colegio y terminaron preparatoria ah\u00ed mismo. Toda una vida, como yo. Varios a\u00f1os nos toc\u00f3 en el mismo sal\u00f3n, aunque nunca fuimos del mismo grupo de amigos. Sin embargo, el aprecio existe, el v\u00ednculo que crearon tantas similitudes, tantos d\u00edas de entrar y salir por la misma puerta, de vestir el mismo uniforme, de cantar los lunes el himno en el patio y, por supuesto, el futbol.<\/p>\n

Ambos est\u00e1bamos en la selecci\u00f3n. Si la memoria no me finta, \u00e9l era defensa. A m\u00ed me pon\u00edan de medio derecho y a veces de delantero. Todos los s\u00e1bados ten\u00edamos partidos y, las noches previas, yo ten\u00eda esta pesadilla recurrente de que la fallaba solo frente a la porter\u00eda. A veces nos tocaba ir a jugar lej\u00edsimos y, me acuerdo bien, ah\u00ed siempre estaba su pap\u00e1: Manolo<\/strong>, para sus cuates.<\/p>\n

Mi pap\u00e1 no iba mucho, a m\u00ed casi siempre me llevaba mi madre, y me echaba porras. Pero Manolo<\/strong> invariablemente estaba ah\u00ed. \u00c9l no echaba porras, \u00e9l se paraba apenas afuera de la l\u00ednea de juego y nos gritaba a todos: \u00ab\u00a1Germ\u00e1n<\/strong>, no la juegues en el \u00e1rea!; \u00ab\u00a1Pi\u00f1eir\u00faa<\/strong>, que no pase esa bola!\u00bb; \u00ab\u00a1Koloffon<\/strong>, c\u00e1mbiala ya!\u00bb; \u00ab\u00a1Bultos!\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Un partido que no estaba de \u00e1nimos le hice ojos de pistola para que ya no me gritara. Y funcion\u00f3\u2026 aquel s\u00e1bado, porque al siguiente volvi\u00f3 a gritar varias veces mi apellido (ja, ja, ja). Supongo que por eso me conmovi\u00f3 su muerte y al recordarlo me surgi\u00f3 una nost\u00e1lgica sonrisa, pues, al enterarme, la memoria me hizo revivir esos momentos de la infancia: la escuela, los amigos, la pelota, los pap\u00e1s que siempre estaban y que hoy ya no est\u00e1n.<\/p>\n
