Mis hijos no pod\u00edan comprender que llevara cuatro horas frente a la televisi\u00f3n, viendo los 50 kil\u00f3metros de caminata del Mundial de Atletismo de Doha. Y no era la primera vez, en 1984 segu\u00ed de principio a fin a Ra\u00fal Gonz\u00e1lez. M\u00e1s all\u00e1 del orgullo patri\u00f3tico que sent\u00ed al descubrir en may\u00fasculas rojas las letras de M\u00c9XICO sobre el jersey blanco de aquel hombre de bigote mexican\u00edsimo, su esfuerzo sobrehumano y el hecho de que no acabara de creerse su haza\u00f1a fue lo que me cautiv\u00f3 para siempre.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso me emocion\u00e9 el s\u00e1bado, porque no entend\u00eda c\u00f3mo Jes\u00fas Garc\u00eda Bragado, el espa\u00f1ol de 49 a\u00f1os, llegaba octavo, a 40 grados y con 80% de humedad, 26 a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de haber sido campe\u00f3n del mundo en Stuttgart 1993. Ni los locutores daban cr\u00e9dito de su proeza y, mucho menos, de que vaya a participar con medio siglo de vida en los Juegos Ol\u00edmpicos de Tokyo. Esos son fortuitos y atribuibles a los dioses. En cambio, la magia corresponde exclusivamente a los hombres, proviene de trucos y ocurre donde nadie se da cuenta, en instantes imperceptibles: en el d\u00eda a d\u00eda, en los entrenamientos, en la voluntad, en la persistencia.<\/p>\n<p>Ese fue tambi\u00e9n el secreto de Kenenisa Bekele en su acto estelar del domingo.
