Mi primera Carrera del D\u00eda del Padre la corr\u00ed en 2013, a mis 37 a\u00f1os. Me invit\u00f3 mi amigo Pepe Hinojosa, quien entonces ten\u00eda 59. Siempre he congeniado mejor con gente mayor que yo. Posiblemente se deba a que soy un alma vieja \u2014seg\u00fan me dijo una vidente\u2014, o, tal vez, a mi atracci\u00f3n por las an\u00e9cdotas, esas que gustan tanto de contar las personas grandes.<\/p>\n

Recuerdo bien la expectaci\u00f3n. Hasta entonces, \u00fanicamente hab\u00eda corrido dos carreras de cinco kil\u00f3metros, y hablar de un medio marat\u00f3n me provocaba un vac\u00edo en el est\u00f3mago. Eran palabras mayores, como una conversaci\u00f3n de adultos.<\/p>\n

Un mes antes, durante la filmaci\u00f3n de una de las campa\u00f1as donde convergieron nuestros caminos, Pepe me pregunt\u00f3 cu\u00e1nto era lo m\u00e1s que hab\u00eda corrido. No estaba preparado \u2014como sucede cuando te aventuras a realizar algo m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de lo acostumbrado\u2014, a lo sumo habr\u00eda hecho 15. Sin embargo, a decir suyo, sin problema podr\u00eda completar los 21, y me regal\u00f3 la inscripci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

\u00c9l llevaba varios maratones, medios y carreras de todo tipo. Su productora, de hecho , se encargaba en aquel momento de organizar los Spartan. C\u00e1mara al hombro, con casi 60 a\u00f1os, tenis y esp\u00edritu de joven, persegu\u00eda participantes con el entusiasmo de un novato. Yo no pod\u00eda evitar compararlo con mi padre, ajeno al ejercicio, y solo pensaba en lo diferente que de repente son las vidas.<\/p>\n

El tercer domingo de junio me sub\u00ed a mi coche y sal\u00ed de casa pasadas las 6:00 a.m. Como si fuera hora pico, Insurgentes avanzaba a vuelta de rueda rumbo Ciudad Universitaria. La emoci\u00f3n comenzaba a sentirse y los corredores empezaban a bajarse ansiosos de los taxis (todav\u00eda no exist\u00eda aqu\u00ed Uber) a calentar con sus dorsales en el pecho y sus historias.<\/p>\n

\n

Ya sonaba el himno cuando llegu\u00e9. Arranqu\u00e9 casi al \u00faltimo, delante de la ambulancia y la barredora. Me advirtieron de los diez kil\u00f3metros de regreso, de la subida y lo beneficioso de los geles energ\u00e9ticos. Pero nadie me avis\u00f3 de las familias que echan porras, del pap\u00e1 que empuja en silla de ruedas a su hijo discapacitado, o de los hijos que llevan la fotograf\u00eda y el nombre de su padre estampado en su camiseta, d\u00e1ndole las gracias y dedic\u00e1ndole la carrera. Me toc\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n ver a un pap\u00e1 y un hijo acabar juntos la carrera con las manos en alto.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Cruc\u00e9 la meta rozando las dos horas. El a\u00f1o siguiente hice abajo de 1 h 40 min y, otra, estuve cerca de la hora y media. Apenas ayer compr\u00e9 mi inscripci\u00f3n para este a\u00f1o. Quien corra y este D\u00eda del Padre quiera emocionarse, todav\u00eda quedan algunos n\u00fameros. Yo pensar\u00e9 en el m\u00edo.<\/p>\n
